Accessibility statement
We want everyone to be able to read The Investment Daily, and we are building the site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. The site has not yet been independently audited, so this statement sets out our target, the limits we already know about and how to tell us about a problem.
This statement was prepared on 9 October 2026, before launch. We will review it after launch and at least once a year after that.
What we are aiming for
WCAG 2.1 is a W3C standard for accessible web content. Meeting it at level AA means you should be able to:
- use the whole site with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline;
- use the site with a screen reader, with headings, links and form fields properly labelled;
- zoom text to 200% without losing content;
- read text and controls in colours with enough contrast, because our colour pairs were chosen against the WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios;
- see whether a figure rose or fell without relying on colour, because every change also carries an up or down symbol and a plus or minus sign;
- read our data as real HTML tables rather than images, with a text summary for every chart;
- avoid motion, because the site respects your device’s reduced-motion setting.
Known limits
- Wide tables on small screens. Some data tables have many columns. On a phone they become stacked cards or scroll sideways, which can be harder to follow with a screen reader.
- Charts. Each chart has a text summary, but a summary cannot carry every data point. Where a chart is drawn from a table, we link the table.
- Older articles. Articles from the earlier version of the site are being rewritten. Until each one is, it may have unclear headings, missing image descriptions or link text that does not say where the link goes.
- Documents we link to. We often link to PDFs and pages published by regulators, government departments and companies. We cannot control how accessible they are.
- Forms. The newsletter and professional registration forms will be tested with screen readers before sign-ups open.
Report a problem or ask for another format
If you find something hard to use, or need a page, table or chart in another format, email editor@theinvestmentdaily.com with “Accessibility” in the subject line. Tell us the page address and what went wrong. We aim to reply within five working days and, where we can, to send the content in a format that works for you.
How we test
Before launch, we will check each page template with a keyboard, a screen reader and automated testing tools, and test our colour pairs against the WCAG 2.1 contrast ratios. We will update this statement with what that testing finds.
