Corrections

When we get something wrong, we put it right quickly and openly. A corrected piece says what was wrong, what we changed and the date, and every significant correction is listed in the log on this page.

Our policy

  • Significant errors, such as a wrong figure, rate, date, rule or name, or anything that could mislead a reader, are corrected in the piece with a dated correction note at the top and listed in the log below.
  • Minor errors, such as a spelling mistake or a broken link, are fixed without a note, as long as the fix does not change the meaning.
  • Updates are not corrections. When a fact changes after we publish, such as a new rate or a new rule, we update the piece and label it “Updated” with the date.
  • Data products record corrections in the change log on their method page, as well as in the log below.
  • Newsletters: if an error appeared in a newsletter, we correct it in the next issue and in the piece it links to.
  • We do not delete pieces to hide mistakes. If we ever have to remove a piece for legal reasons, its page says so.

How to report an error

Email editor@theinvestmentdaily.com with “Correction” in the subject line. Please include:

  1. the page address or the newsletter issue;
  2. what you think is wrong;
  3. a link to the source that shows the right figure or fact, if you have one.

We aim to reply within two working days. If we agree there is an error, we correct it as soon as we have confirmed the right figure at its source. If we disagree, we will tell you why. If you are still not satisfied, you can complain under our editorial code.
